The Spanish Defending champions Barcelona won 2-0 against Leganes to earn another three points in the space of just three days. This narrow win now gives Barcelona a five-point advantage at the top of the table to further close them for clinching the title. The Catalans now have 64 points in 29 matches ahead of second placed and arch rival Madrid who has 59 points and a game in hand.
The game kicked off before a third minute long pass from Messi to Ansu Fati whose low shot blocked by Leganes defender. At the first few minutes Leganes had few close efforts which were all well covered by Barcelona defense.
Later in the first half in 29th minute Rakitic’s beautiful pass found Griezmann inside the box whose header gone wide in a situation where he should have done better. At the half hour mark after the hydration break it was Ansu Fati who disappointed the visitors through a Firpo Junior pass on 42th minute. His low shot went right into the back of the net to make it 1-0 for Barcelona.
In the second interval and on 65th minute Griezmann’s first touch shot went inside the net but the referee flagged for offside in a controversial situation. Things went well for both team as the two sides had opportunities to turn things for their advantage but it was again the home side who had the upper hand right at a time when Messi was fouled inside the box on 66th minute to take a penalty kick for Barcelona. The Argentine converted the spot kick where he sent the keeper the other way to make it 2-0 with stylish celebration.
Leganes took possession after the goal and had many efforts denied by Barcelona. Ruqui Puig could have made it 3-0 but thanks to his wide shot in a one on one situation the result remained the same until the final whistle.
Barcelona now have 69 league goals and conceded 31 goals with a total of +38 goal difference. It was the second game that Barcelona used all five of their substitutions with one of them saw Luis Suarez get in.
Barcelona will next take on Seville away from home.
