After the Disappointing 1-1 draw against Alaves in LaLiga, Barcelona would be facing the Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv for their third game in the Champions League. Barcelona are currently topping group G while they stay unbeaten in this year’s Champions League by defeating Ferencvárosi 5-0 at Camp Nou and Juventus 2-0 in Turin. At the same time, Dynamo Kyiv hasn’t managed to win any matches in this year’s Champions League as they have lost against Juventus 2-0 and could manage only a draw against Ferencvárosi. Heading into their game against Barcelona, the team is further in distress as 9 of their first team players, along with the assistant manager, have tested positive for Covid-19 and will not be available for selection for the Ukranian side. This leaves their coach, Micrea Lucescu with only 13 first-team players to chose for their starting 11.
While Barcelona would want to keep behind their LaLiga form to strengthen their position as group leaders, Dynamo Kyiv would be looking to get their first win this season against the Catalan Club.
The last meeting between these two sides was back in the 2009/10 season in the group stage, where Barcelona beat the Ukrainian side in both, home and away fixtures.

With many players unavailable, this would be a tough match for Dynamo Kyiv to field a competitive 11. They would look to get back in the tournament and fight towards qualifying from the group stage. Simultaneously, Barcelona would want to get back in form after the below-par performances in LaLiga. Also, with this win, they could become strengthen their spot as group toppers. Much has been talked about Lionel Messi’s goal scoring form in recent weeks, so; he would be hoping to score his first open-play goal of the season and silence his critics.
